”Paros Festival is a three-day cultural event that takes place in mid-July in Parikia, the capital town of the island. Its main goal is to promote the diverse culture of the place and its people.
Music, architecture, literature, arts and crafts and any sort of religious or other traditions -the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the island provide a rich context within which people can engage with the past and the present of the place.
Concerts, exhibitions, screenings, discussions, lectures, guided tours, educational programs for children and adults, workshops with local craftsmen and a manifold of other participatory events aim at highlighting the unseen side of the island and its untold stories.
Paros Festival focuses on the old town of Parikia, which is dominated by the Frankish Castle. Yet it reflects the island’s culture as a whole.
Paros Festival is an initiative of a group of volunteers living on the island and it aims at engaging the local community in the management and the promotion of their cultural heritage.”
